The Lego Batman Movie (2017)- Film review

The Lego Batman Movie is a spin-off from the Lego Movie, and follows Lego Batman as voiced by Will Arnett. The style of the film is much like the style of the Lego Movie, being very fast paced and full of jokes and references to pop culture. The film is a spoof of everything we have seen from the character batman, from the 60s to the recent DC films, but also has a pretty sweet story amongst the gags about Batman dealing with loneliness and struggling with the concept of family. Batman is afraid of relationships and relying on other people, he resists working with the police and refuses to admit to the Joker that they have a connection, but when he accidentally adopts Dick Grayson he is forced to try to connect with the people who care about him. If you’re not a fan of referential humour and pop culture comedy, you didn’t like the Lego Movie, and don’t have a basic knowledge of the Batman franchise, then you probably won’t enjoy this film. I like all of those things though and I thought this film was an absolute blast. The Lego Batman Movie is directed by Chris McKay and stars the voices of Will Arnett. Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson, Ralph Fiennes and Zach Galifianakis. Continue reading “The Lego Batman Movie (2017)- Film review”

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice(2016)- Film review

Batman v Superman is directed by Zack Snyder and stars Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman, with Jeremy Irons, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams and Gal Gadot supporting. It is the second film in planned DC Cinematic universe, after Man of Steel. As the title implies, the film focuses on the clash of these two well-known heroes. Batman, and the rest of the world, are in a fierce debate over Superman’s morality after the death and destruction of Metropolis caused during his fight with General Zod at the end of Man of Steel. Batman sees Superman as a threat to humanity on a global scale and, motivated by the death of a friend in the Metropolis battle, makes it his personal vendetta to destroy the Man of Steel. Unfortunately, the rest of the plot was spoiled by that second trailer, so as the trailer shows, Lex Luthor is in the background manipulating events, and another villain, Doomsday, appears to bring the characters together. There was stuff I enjoyed in this film, and some things I probably liked more as a fan of the comics, but there was also a lot of elements I really didn’t like. Batman, The Long Halloween- Comic Review

the long halloween small

I really don’t want to spoil much from the plot of this story as the mystery is a lot of the enjoyment, but the basic plot is that an unknown killer starts to murder family members of the Gotham mob coinciding with anual holidays, starting with Halloween, while Batman, Jim Gordon and Harvey Dent are trying to uncover the killer; and it is an amazing Batman story!
