Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)- Film review

I rewatched this classic comedy today and felt like talking about it. The Holy Grail is the first feature length film the Monty Python crew made (not including And Now For Something Completly Different as it’s just a film lenght collection of sketches) and obviously is made by and stars the 6 Pythons: Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin. It is an amazing and influential comedy so if you’ve not seen it you really should go back and give it a go. Continue reading “Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)- Film review”

The Voices (2014)- Film review

The voices

My-Cousin-Vinny-Poster

My Cousin Vinny is a comedy about two young guys, Bill and Stan, who are on a road trip when they get arrested in Alabama for a murder they didn’t commit, and so they turn to Bill’s cousin Vinny, who is a lawyer, but he has never been in court and so is very much out of his element in a murder trial, and so he struggles to prove their innocence against overwhelming evidence. It’s the classic ‘wrong place at the wrong time’ story. It is directed by Jonathan Lynn and stars Joe Pesci, Marisa Tomei, Ralph Macchio, Mitchell Whitfield and Fred Gwynne, and is an entertaining film. I did have that edge of caution though as films have disappointed me before, and I’m not the biggest Ryan Reynolds fan.  However, I’m happy to say that I was not disappointed in the slightest! Children of Men (2006)-Film Review

children of men

Children of men is set in England in the dystopian 2027 where the world has fallen into chaos and fascism because all women on the planet have become infertile, so a baby hasn’t been born in 18 years. The plot follows Theo Faron (Clive Owen) as he discovers the first pregnant woman in 18 years and tries to escort her to the coast. Directed by Alfonso Cuaron and staring Clive Owen, Julianne Moore, Michael Kane, Clara-Hope Ashitey and Chiwetel Ejiofor, the film is a powerful social message and a harrowing portrail of a world devoid of hope.
